A BHK - Pastel Interiors with Sliding Wardrobes and Carved Partitions

3 BHK · Contemporary · Hayathnagar, Hyderabad · 1350 sq ft · 45 days

A residential interior built around colour-blocked pastel joinery, full-height sliding wardrobes and partition screens that divide space without closing it off. The scheme pairs powder blue and rose finishes in the bedrooms with warm wood and rose-gold detailing through the shared areas.

A residential interior where most of the work sits in the joinery. Bedrooms are handled in colour-blocked pastels, powder blue in one, dusty rose in another, with matching workstations, wardrobes and dressing corners built as single continuous units rather than separate pieces of furniture. The shared areas move to a warmer palette of wood-grain laminates and rose-gold framing. Two partition screens mark the transition from the entry into the home without walling it in, one built from CNC-cut geometric panels, the other from arched panels carrying a printed forest scene. Storage runs to full height wherever the wall allowed it, including loft cabinets above every wardrobe.

The challenge

The apartment had usable wall length but limited floor area, which ruled out freestanding furniture in the bedrooms and made every corner worth reclaiming. The entry opened directly into the living space with no natural break. Storage requirements were high across all rooms, and two of the bedrooms needed study space without giving up circulation room.

How we solved it

Storage was moved onto the walls and taken to ceiling height. Wardrobes use sliding shutters throughout so nothing swings into the walking space, with loft cabinets above for seasonal use. In the children's rooms, the desk, wall cabinet and open ledges were designed as one stepped composition tucked into the corner, keeping the working surface clear and the floor open. Colour was used to give each room its own identity while the finishes and detailing stayed consistent - same fluting, same rounded profiles, same knob detail - so the rooms read as part of one house. At the entry, a CNC-cut screen with mirror inserts holds the boundary while light continues through it, and the arched printed partition does the same job further in.
